i know i just created a post about TS, but i researched this on google and came up with NADA so im very interested in hearing a reply.

can you play music over TS?

now let me clarify: i do not mean turning up the volume and letting the mic hear it. i do not mean buying the professional version of vent and then hiring some kind of software consultant to do it for me.

i mean can i dload some program or tweak TS somehow to allow me to open realplayer or w/e and just say "play on ts" so when i listen to the output on TS everyone hears my music.

is this even possible?

I dont think you can. Well, Im sure you could rip apart the program and code a mod for it, but thats a bit labor intensive. Most times when I'm on TS or Vent, if somone has music playing all I hear is feedback and echo from their mic. I would prefer not to hear any music than to listen to echo/reverb music thats far to loud over TS/Vent.

First off, what I am about to suggest will put you in violation of many "public performance" laws that govern what you can do with your music and I'm pretty sure it qualifies as "re-broadcast", so you have been warned...

I was able to do this with the movie "Star Wars", actually by accident.

First, what you need to do this is change the 'recording input' in Windows from the Mic jack, to something else, like the "WAV Output" or "Line Out". This will allow whatever your computer plays to be picked up by the TS application.

You can do this in Windows XP by double-clicking the Volume Control icon in your System Tray (if you have it). Choose "Options", Properties, then select "Recording" radial button. Also make sure to check "Stereo Mix" in the checkboxes, then hit OK. Now you can put the checkbox under "Stereo Mix". Then hit OK if necessary and close out the window.

If you don't have the Volume Control in your System Tray, you can put it there by going to Control Panel, Sounds And Audio Devices, and check the Checkbox that says "Place Volume Icon in Task Bar".

Second, set TS to be "Voice-Activated" and adjust it almost all the way down.

Third, start up your WinAmp or WinDVD and you can then hear the output on your own speakers.

Fourth, startup TS, login, and it should show as broadcasting (the little green light next to your name).

Fifth, to continue to use your mic as well, you will probably need to run the "Broadcast" on a separate PC, while using your main PC for yourself.

Anyway, there you go. I accidently broadcast about 2 minutes of Star Wars over our TS server when I was making some DVD's of my old Star Wars flicks.

I don't recommend doing this unless you get the permission of the others in TS though as it can be VERY annoying and makes it VERY difficult to hear others unless you adjust your volume controls on the broadcasting system just right.

you mentioned copyright stuff, but when you do it for like 3 friends its almost the same as inviting them to your house and turning up a stereo system, which as far as i know, is not illegal. but thanks for the info ill try it out and tell you how it goes
